Guest Display: Melissa Holland’s Constellation of Order

As well as the professionally painted miniatures and dioramas, Warhammer World’s Exhibition has regularly changing Guest Displays, showcasing amazing personal projects created by fans of the hobby. The latest display is Melissa Holland’s Constellation of Order Armies on Parade.

This was Mel’s first time for Armies on Parade, so she decided to join in by creating a display board for her existing Seraphon army. This meant, unusually for an Armies on Parade project, she worked to match the board to her existing bases, rather than creating bases for the miniatures in conjunction with the board. Mel’s bases were already packed with great details, like the snakes and fern leaves.

Mel knew that she wanted a Baleful Realmgate, and this inspired some of her colour choices: “Alongside the natural colours on the board, as you get closer to the Realmgate I wanted to have a ‘magical’ palette – as if the landscape had been absorbing all the magic of the Realmgate. That lead to the blue rocks and the glow in the trees.”

One of the great touches Mel has used across her miniatures is areas of ‘Ardcoat, which gives a sheen to details like the snakes, Blot toads and horns on the Stegadon. This adds a depth to the miniatures, and makes the dangerous little critters stand out even more as something you really wouldn’t want to find in the undergrowth.

Come and see this great display for yourself at the Warhammer World Exhibition, before it leaves in June/July (end date TBC). Of course, you also get to see the other Guest Displays, thousands of our professionally painted miniatures, and around 25 specially built dioramas!
